The Wolves win the Supercup

Both teams were unable to compete with their best players in the Supercup final. The Rittner Buam had to do without the injured Ebner, Tauferer and Kevin Fink, while the Wolves were without Obermair and Rabbit. The latter had not yet received his visa and was therefore not eligible to play. Schweitzer, on the other hand, gritted his teeth after receiving a deep cut on his face.

The home team started very powerfully in the Arena Ritten and circulated the puck very well in the Wolves' defensive third. However, at the latest when the attentive Tragust reached the yellow-black box, it was always the end of the line. The Pusterers, on the other hand, tried long passes into the depths, which the Ritten defense largely intercepted.

Pritz shifts fastest in front of Killeen

The visitors took the lead after a quarter of an hour from a situation where they were outnumbered. Pritz finished in front of Killeen's goal and sank the target for a 1-0 lead (14.40:XNUMX). Victor Ahlstrom immediately tried it on the other side, but found his match in Tragust. After that, Julian Kostner had to go into the cooler, but the Wolves couldn't find a recipe to overcome Killeen a second time.

The middle third began with a great chance for Matthias Fauster, who appeared alone in front of Tragust, but his backhand shot was too inaccurate. A little later, Markus Spinell was blocked at the very last second by Armin Helfer, who immediately tried to counterattack, but got stuck in the Rittner defense.

After half an hour, the Rittners were allowed to act with one more man after several outnumbered situations, but they almost conceded the 0-2 through Bona. In the 34th minute, Killeen excelled in three chances for Wiebe and Tauber, before Oscar Ahlstrom failed to capitalize on a Tragust rebound on the other side (35th). These were the last highlights before the final third.

Hofer makes it exciting again

The final period of the game began with a power play for the Rittners, but Borgatello's diagonal shot didn't end up in the net. The Lehtonen team tried hard, but had no luck in the end. The supposed preliminary decision came in the 46th minute, when the Wolves had the majority and were awarded a penalty. Max Oberrauch took responsibility and increased the score to 2-0 from the perspective of the yellow-blacks.

But the answer from the home team was not long in coming. Roland Hofer's shot landed in the goal after 47.33 minutes and the game was completely open again after 1:2. The goal spurred the reigning champions on even further, but the Puster defense withstood Rittner's attacking efforts. When Lehtonen took the goalie off the ice for a sixth skater, Wieber made the decision 3-1.

For HC Pustertal it is the third Supercup win in the club's history, while Ritten has now lost the Supercup final for the third time in a row.
