From August 12th to 14th, the Czech long-running favorite will fight for the pot in the Würtarena in Neumarkt for the first time in history. 72 years is a very long time. Especially in sports. That's why it's all the more remarkable that Dynamo Pardubice has been playing ice hockey in the highest Czech league for 72 years now. In 1950, the club from the 92.000-inhabitant city on the Elbe was promoted to the upper house and has never been relegated since. For this reason alone, Dynamo Pardubice is one of the most traditional clubs in the Czech Republic, which is also evident in the mature fan culture. While many clubs from the Czech Extraliga had to struggle with a decline in spectators due to Corona this year, Pardubice could always count on its “seventh man”. Dynamo Pardubice has won a total of six championship titles. Three of them in the Czechoslovakian championship, to which Pardubice belonged until 1993, three more in the Czech Extraliga, which was newly launched that year. The last big triumph dates back to 2012. An old acquaintance near Pardubice However, there is currently disappointment in the Czech long-running favorite's camp. In mid-March they were eliminated in the playoff quarter-finals against Ceské Budejovice. At Pardubice, who finished the regular season in 5th position, there were already the first personnel consequences because coach Richard Král had to pack his bags. Pardubice's team consists mainly of Czech players, but one of the imports may be familiar to many ice hockey fans in South Tyrol. On defense this year, powerhouse Dennis Robertson touched concrete. The Canadian was one of the cornerstones at HC Bozen for two years before moving to Pardubice in 2021, where he has a contract until the summer of 2024. The field of participants in this year's Dolomites Cup is complete. In addition to EHC Biel, Augsburger Panther and Eisbären Berlin, Dynamo Pardubice will also take part in the 16th edition of the prestigious preparatory tournament.
