Dornbirn remains a taboo for HC Bozen

HC Bozen started the away trip to the “Ländle” without Hell, Rodney, Galvins and Zisser. Nevertheless, in front of around 2.300 spectators in the Dornbirn exhibition hall, things really got going from the first minute. After just two minutes, the guests failed to score, then Dornbirn struck: Chris D'Alvise made it 1-0. Just 16 seconds later, Mark Cullen had the instant answer with the score at 1-1. He hit the top corner after a fine individual action.

The US striker in the service of HC Bozen should again be the focus at the beginning of the middle section. He was brought down while standing in front of the opponent's goal and the referees immediately decided on a penalty, which the fouled man coldly converted. Although the HCB now clearly dictated the game, it was the home team who scored in the 31st minute. Andrew Bombech scored to make it 2-2. However, the master was not very impressed and struck back again. Markus Gander pushed the disc over the line after a precise pass from McMonagle. The HCB went into the second break with a narrow lead.

Bolzano collapses

However, appearances were deceptive, because after the last break the Bolzano players were suddenly completely out of sorts. First, Zdenek Blatny directed the puck into the net unstoppably to make it 3-3, then Martin Meier Grabher, Luciano Aquino and Andy Sertich made the decision with three goals in three minutes. Dornbirn pulled away to 6:3. Afterwards, HCB goalie Jaroslav Hübl received a 10-minute penalty, but a successful comeback was no longer an option anyway. Derek Nesbitt could only reduce the score to 4:6. This time too there was nothing for Bolzano to gain in Dornbirn.

Even in the fourth game of the season against Dornbirner EC, it wasn't enough for the HCB to win. The EBEL champions lost 4:6 to the third from last team. The result? The white-reds lost sixth place and slipped out of the playoff zone again.
