Draisaitl against Draisaitl: Oilers play against the Haie in Cologne

Cologne (SID) Young ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl will compete with the five-time NHL champion Edmonton Oilers at his hometown club Kölner Haie. On October 3rd, the Canadians will play in the pre-season against the club from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), and there will be a family reunion for the 22-year-old national player. At the Haie, his father Peter Draisaitl is the coach behind the gang. “We will receive a lot of attention,” said striker Leon Draisaitl. Cologne is a "really sports-loving city. It's something very special for me to play against the Haie. My father is the coach, it will be fun." The game on German Unity Day starts at 16.00 p.m. The duel will be broadcast live on Sport1. Tickets for the 2018 NHL Global Series Challenge encounter will be available starting March 14 (10.00 a.m.). For Edmonton it is the last test before the new season. On October 6th, the Oilers will face the New Jersey Devils in the main round opener in the North American NHL professional league in Gothenburg, Sweden. There have already been a few duels between local clubs and NHL teams in Germany. In 1990, the Düsseldorfer EG played twice against the St. Louis Blues, later the Eisbären Berlin met Tampa Bay Lightning (2008), the Adler Mannheim met the San Jose Sharks (2010) and the Buffalo Sabers (2011) as well as the Hamburg Freezers Los Angeles Kings (2011).
