Third league as a spectator magnet: Pinè can be celebrated

The IHL – Division 1, the former Serie C, which is played as the third highest championship series in the opaque Italian league system, caused a lot of excitement this season. On the one hand, because the Fanano Miners from the Modena region are a financially strong club that is pushing upwards, and on the other hand, because the fans flocked to the halls in droves.

The Miners' only playoff home game was sold out with 1600 spectators, there were also almost 1000 in Pranives for the semi-final between Gherdëina C and Feltre and Feltre itself attracted an average of 1600 fans into the hall for the playoff home games.

In the first leg of the final against Pinè ten days ago, the Bellunese sold no less than 2100 tickets - which, however, did not lead to sporting success. Pinè took the win, winning 3-2 and laying the foundation for the eventual championship title in the best-of-three series.

The Trentino team finally completed their final triumph last Saturday. Luca Biasioni scored for HC Pinè to win 1-0 in the second leg, goalkeeper Matteo Calvi held on in a thrilling final phase. In the end, the Tigers from Pinè were celebrated by the 1300 spectators for their first third division title.

Val Gardena and Vinschgau with light and shadow The two South Tyrolean teams in the IHL – Division 1 had to give up previously. The Val Gardena second representation initially won the quarter-final series against Real Torino 2-1, but then lost 0-2 in the semifinals against Feltre. The Eisfix of the AHC Vinschgau, however, narrowly missed out on making it into the playoffs as third in the qualifying round.

Third league as a spectator magnet: Pinè can be celebrated

On the Easter weekend, HC Pinè was crowned champions in IHL Division 1. The Trentino team won both finals, which were attended by a total of around 3500 spectators.
