EBEL: Bozen has the upper hand in the Tyrolean derby

For both teams, the Tyrolean derby was all about honor. Bolzano was already confirmed as a playoff participant before kick-off and Innsbruck's vacation begins late in the evening.

Don MacAdam lined up Daniel Morandell in the Füchse goal, who made his EBEL debut and made a save on Höller after just one minute. On the other hand, the Foxes did better. After 77 seconds, Schofield gave the home team the lead, initially hanging on to Machreich, but then coldly converting a pass from Zanette.

Bolzano then stayed on the trigger, and Innsbruck had counterattack opportunities. But both Machreich and Morandell were at the post. Only after exactly 17 minutes were the White and Reds able to celebrate a second time. Pance was initially denied by the Innsbruck goalie before number 13 rounded the opposing goal and put his own rebound into the box.

Siddall could have scored the next goal straight away, but his shot went just over the goal guarded by Daniel Morandell.

Innsbruck is coming back

The second half of the game began with a cold shower for the hosts. Pittl pulled away from the blue line and caught Daniel Morandell through the legs. This meant that the North Tyroleans shortened the score to 1:2. Shortly afterwards, Schramm could have equalized, but this time the Bolzano goalkeeper was there.

Oberdörfer had the first opportunity in the second half of the game for Bozen, who tried from a tight angle but was unable to embarrass Machreich. After half an hour the guests equalized. Vanballegooie beat Morandell with a wrist shot from the blue line that went perfectly into the top corner.

Nesbitt with the double pack

But the “Sharks”' joy didn't last two minutes: then, after a counterattack, Nesbitt shot the Talferstädters back in front. Insam then had two chances before Morandell stepped up to give Beech a chance. In the last minute, a referee injured his leg when he was hit by the puck.

5.13:XNUMX minutes had been played in the final third when Nesbitt struck for the second time and thus secured the preliminary decision. The Bolzano attacker was successful again after a counterattack.

In the 51st minute, Morandell had to intervene on a rebound from MacAulay before Zanette was denied by Machreich five minutes before the end. Shortly afterwards Bernard did better, deflecting a Keller shot into an unstoppable position.

Not much happened after that, HC Bozen won the Tyrolean derby 5-2.
