EBEL: Bozen cannot be stopped, not even by the master

Bozen and Klagenfurt have collected no fewer than 49 championship titles in their club history. The duel between the two record champions was correspondingly prestigious. The HCB tackled this without the injured Marco Insam and Kim Strömberg.

The home team was very slow to get into the game and were pushed into their own third, especially in the early stages. Consequently, Klagenfurt took the lead after 2.19:1 minutes through Markus Pirmann. Bolzano was slow to recover from the early goal. The Foxes only became really dangerous in the power play. The equalizer worked straight away: Matt Beaudoin scored 1-XNUMX around three minutes before the first break.

In the middle section, events came to a head. Bozen now really turned up the heat and took the lead for the first time after just 21.15 minutes. Once again it was Beaudoin who deflected a shot from Sebastien Pichè and sent it into the opponent's goal. It was his sixth goal of the season. But the KAC was not impressed and counterattacked in the power play. Tyler Scofield made it 22.30-2 after 2:29. This time, however, the HCB stayed in control and took the lead again in the 4th minute with a power play goal from MacGregor Sharp. But that's not all: just under two minutes later, Davide Nicoletti increased the score to 2-3 with a hammer shot from the blue line. The white-reds could no longer be held. The fifth goal came from fine interaction between Whitfield and Beaudoin. Pance completed the operation successfully. But anyone who thought that the reigning champions had given up was far wrong, because the star ensemble from Wörthersee caused excitement again with Scofield's 5:XNUMX twelve seconds before the second period break.

In the final third, Bozen cleverly controlled the game and provided constant relief attacks. The guests, on the other hand, repeatedly weakened themselves with penalties. A numerical advantage also led to Davide Nicoletti's sixth goal in the 45.03 minute. Bozen now played as if they were all of a piece and didn't allow the Carinthians to find their way into the game. Even when Michael Siklenka reduced the score to 51.21:4 after 6, the Pokel team didn't let themselves be disturbed. On the contrary, just 70 seconds later Rick Schofield scored the final score when he was outnumbered. For Bozen it was an all-round successful evening after three power play goals, a 7:4 shooting festival against the champions and the defense of the league lead.

On Friday the Füchse have to play against the Black Wings Linz for the first time in the next championship game.
