EBEL: Bozen has to admit defeat to Graz in the penalty shootout

The Füchse got off to a strong start in the Bolzano ice wave - a shot from Pance just missed the goal - but then had to accept their first goal in the 1.59 minute. When Walker first tried the pawn trick, Hübl was still there. However, the HCB goalie allowed a rebound and had no chance with Walker's second shot, which put the guests in front for the first time.

Graz's lead lasted until 16.24:1 minutes, then Rick Schofield equalized with a precise shot under the crossbar to make it 1-2. Just two minutes later, Justin Keller even gave the home team the lead and the players went into the locker room for the first time with the score at 1-XNUMX.

The middle third began with an ice-cold shower for the home team. In the 22.04 minute, Walker was met by Ganahl, who scored for the second time that evening and brought the guests from Graz back into the game. Shortly afterwards, Kelly hit a rebound with his backhand, giving the 99ers another lead. Zagrapan even increased the score to 27.28-4 in the 2 minute with the advantage (Keller was in the penalty box). The Bolzano team's reaction, which had initially failed to materialize, finally followed three minutes later: Marco Insam captured the hard rubber disc and smashed it into the net to make it 3-4.

In the final third, the two teams once again fought a thrilling duel. There were chances here and there, but initially neither Bozen nor Graz wanted to achieve the goal. However, five minutes before the end, Pance redeemed the Foxes and sent the teams into extra time with the equalizer to make it 4-4.

This passed without a goal and so the decision had to be made in a penalty shootout. The guests kept their nerve there. Kevin Moderer scored the decisive penalty for the 5:4 win for the 99ers, who thus took revenge for the 2:3 home defeat against HCB a week ago.
