EBEL: HCB Südtirol loses at home against Graz

The Moser Medical Graz 99ers took revenge against HCB Südtirol in the Eiswelle on Tuesday evening for the 0-1 defeat on the first EBEL match day. The Styrians won 4:3 away and, thanks to the three points, handed over the red lantern to Laibach, who also lost 3:4 at home to Dornbirn.

Graz got off to a good start and led 2-0 after the first third. Poulsen and Brophey gave the team a comfortable two-goal lead with a double strike within 33 seconds in the middle of the starting third. Actually contrary to the course of the game, because the dominant team in the ice wave was the Pokel squad.

After the first break, Bozen pressed vehemently for a goal. But one man had something against it, and that was Graz goalie Sebastian Dahm. He infuriated the Foxes' attackers with his saves. Pope, DiCasmirro, Broda, Saviano, Bernard and Insam bit their teeth on Dahm.

In the final third, only 22 seconds had been played when the bell rang in the Graz box. Vause netted and the Talferstaders had hope again. Hope, which was quickly nipped in the bud by the Graz team, because a minute and a half later Fornataro took a direct shot and caught Hübl, whose view was blocked, ice cold.

But the white-reds didn't give up. In the 47th minute it was Insam who used a power play and brought Bozen close again. But the club from Styria had the right answer again just 130 seconds later when Werner gave Foxes goalie Hübl a miss for the fourth time in the match.

But Bolzano continued to press and was rewarded two minutes before the end. Broda's shot deflected Vause into an untenable position. The hosts then took full risk and took Jaroslav Hübl off the ice for a sixth player, but the equalizer was no longer possible.
