EBEL: The Caps show the Foxes the limits

After the plan for 4th place failed prematurely, the Foxes had to play as a team again in today's top match against the Vienna Capitals, integrate the new players into the team structure with a view to the playoffs and test new moves including the power play. Coach Tom Pokel had to do without the injured Oleksuk and Ramoser, and Anton Bernard, who is looking forward to fatherly joy, was also missing. Marcel Melichercik was again guarding the goal after he made a short trip home to be present at the birth of his first offspring.

After a power play for the Foxes right at the start of the game, which did not bring the desired success, there was a monologue from the guests until the fifteenth minute. It was a game from Vienna against Marcel Melichercik, who only had to capitulate once when he was outnumbered by former Bolzano player McGregor Sharp. In the middle section it continued in the same tone, the Capitals played cat and mouse with the Bolzano team. Apart from two timid attempts from Bolzano, only the guests played, scoring four well-played goals after great combinations and partially reducing the Foxes to extras. Five minutes before the end of the period, Marcel Melichercik left his goal and Jake Smith replaced him.

The final third brought no highlights at all, apart from a scuffle between Seymour and Bauer in the last minute of the game. The Viennese wanted to and the people of Bolzano could no longer do so. The locals had the opportunity to score a consolation goal twice through Egger from the blue line and Frigo, who was denied by Kickert after a nice pass from Gander.
