EBEL: The Foxes remain a force abroad

HCB Südtirol Alperia was able to operate with one more man for the first time from the third minute onwards, but was unable to capitalize on it. In the sixth minute, Hannes Oberdörfer received a time penalty, but VSV didn't score either. Shortly afterwards, Oleksuk almost gave the Foxes the lead, but put the puck past the left corner (9th). Just 120 seconds later, Anton Bernard did better, giving Roy the advantage with a rebound. Shortly before the end of the starting third, Metropolit had to go into the cooler. The Eagles tested Melichercik several times, but the guests' goalie was always at his post.

Gander injured

The middle third began with a chance for Latendresse, who volleyed the puck just over the goal. Reid immediately crossed in front of Roy after a counterattack and finished it with a shot into the top corner, making it 2-0. But that wasn't enough: Just three minutes later, Reid scored in the power play to make it 3-0. He hammered Root's assist under the crossbar. This broke Villach's resistance for the time being, and even with one more man (Frigo was in the penalty box), they didn't score a goal despite good chances. In the 35th minute, Markus Gander had to leave the ice injured after a check from behind by Christof Kromp, who received a five-minute and game-time disciplinary penalty. Reid then had to leave the ice for two minutes. When both teams were full, Palmieri made the decision 4-0.

In the final third, Herzog Roys took his place in the VSV goal. The home team pressed for a goal in the last 20 minutes, but the Foxes managed their lead cleverly. Schlacher had the best chance with a shot from the blue line that just sailed past Melichercik's goal (47'). But no one from Villach wanted to score a goal and so it remained a confident 4-0 win. HCB Südtirol is a force away from home this year. Of the 38 points scored so far, the White-Reds collected 21 away from home.
