EBEL: Duel of the record champions goes to the KAC

In a balanced first third, the KAC started a little stronger. Setzinger (1st) and Koch (6th) tested Hübl, but Bozen's goalkeeper was at his post. From the middle of the starting third onwards, the home team got better and better into the game. Oberdörfer was the most dangerous player, but his first attempt went over (10th), then “Obi” only hit the post (18th) and shortly before the siren, Brückler had little trouble with the 26-year-old's shot from a central position.

The second period began with a huge chance for Bernard, who, however, failed to hit the puck in front of the Klagenfurt goal (21'). Five minutes later, Brückler had great difficulty with a Broda hammer, but was somehow able to thwart Bolzano's lead. Then Saviano tried with a backhand shot, but the KAC goalie was there again. In the middle of Bolzano's pressure phase, the guests took the lead. Setzinger served Pöck, who hammered the disc from a central position under the crossbar.

But Bolzano didn't give up, on the contrary: just 120 seconds later, DiCasmirro equalized when he used a rebound from a Saviano shot. Shortly before the end of the middle third, the Austrian record champions took the lead again. This time Ganahl was able to give up Bozen's goalie Hübl (39th).

Bolzano puts pressure on - but is not rewarded

In the final third, the Foxes pushed for an equalizer, but Brückler was the last stop. Pollastrone had the best chance in the 43rd minute, but his opponent was the winner twice. Klagenfurt were waiting for dangerous counterattacks and almost made the decision in the 54th minute, but Hübl excelled at Koch's chance.

Shortly before the end, Pokel took his goalie off the ice for a sixth skater, but the risk was not rewarded. On the contrary: Pöck finally closed the bag with the 3-1 into the empty goal.

The KAC was able to take revenge for the defeat against the HCB a week ago in front of their own audience.
