Fire up for Super Ice Hockey Monday

The first EBEL final in four years is within reach. If HCB Südtirol Alperia wins in Vienna on Easter Monday, then this chapter could be written in the fifth game. However, Foxes coach Kai Suikkanen has to do without a defender.

EBEL: Stefano Marchetti is out with a torn tendon Stefano Marchetti paid dearly for the victory on Holy Saturday. It was immediately apparent that this was a more serious injury. After a short treatment on the Foxes bench, Marchetti was immediately taken to the Bolzano hospital. A partial tear of the forearm tendon was diagnosed there. The play-off season is now over for the defender.

This means that the people of Bolzano have to play the fifth game of the semi-final series in Vienna without Marchetti. At 17.30 p.m. it's all on the line for the Vienna Capitals in the Erste Bank Arena in Kagran. While the motto “win or fly” applies to the Austrian capital (they still have to do without the injured top scorer Rafael Rotter), the HCB has three match pucks. AHL: Final real-loaded Like last year, the 2018 AHL final is Asiago against Ritten. Last year, more precisely on April 10, 2017, the South Tyroleans won the title in the Alps Hockey League. It's understandable that Asiago is now aiming for big revenge.

These two teams were already the best in the regular season. However, the Rittner Buam lost out twice. Asiago's power play is particularly feared. 30,5 percent of the power plays are converted - that's the top value in the league. In contrast, there is the best penalty killing in the AHL: Ritten survives unscathed in 86,1 percent of all shorthanded games. An exciting final series is guaranteed. IHL: Curtain up for the South Tyrolean dream final While HC Bozen and Rittner Buam are chasing a play-off victory across the country's borders on Easter Monday, the first final decision in the Italian Hockey League (IHL) will be made on South Tyrolean soil - namely in Meran. There the Adler will welcome local rivals HC Eppan at 19 p.m. to kick off the best-of-five series.

This duel features the best the second division has to offer. Meran won the intermediate round by three points over second-placed Überetscher and then marched through the quarter and semi-finals without a single defeat. The Pirates moved into the semi-finals with a “sweep” against Auer and ultimately eliminated the big favorites and reigning title holders Milan. Now there is the eagerly awaited showdown between the champions from 2016 (Merano) and the champions from 2014 (Eppan).
