Foxes Junior Academy: A youth team with an eye on the EBEL

This was announced by the sports director of HCB Südtirol, Dieter Knoll, after he, together with the responsible head of the Hockey Academy Bozen, Christian Battisti, and the president of HC Junior Bozen, Matthias Ebnicher, reached an agreement on mutual operational cooperation between the two clubs In the future, a single club will emerge, which will be responsible for the promotion and development of youth ice hockey in the capital. “For the 2017/2018 season,” emphasizes Battisti, “both clubs will run the Under 15 and Under 17 teams together, and their own kit has also been designed. The technical staff includes Marco Liberatore, Egon Schenk and Toni Tyslar, who will organize the training sessions and games in the ice wave and in the Sill and will primarily focus on further developing the training. This also includes morning training sessions to improve basic and individual technique. This agreement is a first step towards a future single club”. Both teams run under the name “Foxes Junior Academy Bolzano Bozen”. The new club, which will be founded in the next few days, will also have the same name and will immediately begin to set the course for the 2018/2019 season.

The new association will have the following tasks: to create the basis for an organized structure with a professional organization, to find qualified technicians, to set up a project based on the “college” model, to bridge the gap between school and training, and to develop local youth and promote the image and many other things. The ultimate goal is to develop an initiative that is unique in Italy to create a strong youth sector based on the Hockey Academy, which has a role model character and corresponds to a demonstration club like HCB Südtirol.

“The goal is not only to form an EBEL youth team within the next few years,” adds Dieter Knoll, “but we also expect that this reality will produce talented young people who can make the leap into the first team through appropriate training. Our wish would also be for one or two young people who have moved abroad to combine studying and sport to return home. Everything starts, of course, at the base, from the children's playful motor skills to the combat teams in a professional and quality environment, to create an important network”.
