Val Gardena prepares for the “most important game of the year”

Val Gardena and Cortina will meet in the Pranives Stadium in Selva. With three rounds to go, the “Furie” absolutely have to score points in order to keep their chance of taking part in the playoffs alive. Cortina currently holds the qualifying spot with 17 points, followed by Salzburg with 15 points and Val Gardena with 14. With a win, the Ladins could move up to the place in the sun.

"The most important game of the season"

"For us it is the most important game of the season, although if we win, we still have to win the following two games. We are dying for the match against Cortina," said HCG defender Derek Eastman. Val Gardena and Cortina have faced each other three times so far this season, and the old champion from Belluno won two of these encounters. The HCG, however, only lost once in the qualifying round and that was in the Olympic Stadium in Cortina. This misstep should now be made up for with a landmark victory.

Neumarkt plays on Wednesday

The second group of the playoff qualification also offers pure excitement. There are still three teams in the race here. League leaders Neumarkt will try to beat the competition with a win on Wednesday in Kitzbühel.

On Tuesday, however, there are two matches with South Tyrolean participation on the program in the Master Round: HC Pustertal travels to Jesenice as the new table leader, while the dethroned leaders Ritten meet EHC Lustenau away.
