HC Bozen suffers historic defeat

The Foxes suffered a surprising 0-1 defeat in the Slovenian capital and were left empty-handed for the second game in a row. This was the first defeat in the twelfth game of the season against Ljubljana. The White-Reds slipped to seventh place in the table.

HCB coach Tom Pokel had to make do without the suspended McMonagle and the injured Reid, while Ljubljana had to play five injured players. The Foxes seemed to handle their role as favorites well in the early stages. They promptly took control of the game and missed the opening goal for the first time in the sixth minute. A shot from Egger hit the crossbar. After that, the HCB was allowed to have the advantage several times, but was no longer able to create clear scoring opportunities. On the other hand, Ljubljana had a goal disallowed due to a high stick.

Failure to take advantage of opportunities will be punished

In the second half of the game, Bolzano once again provided the clearer accents. However, like on Tuesday against Fehervar, the Foxes were too careless with their chances. They repeatedly failed because of Olimpija goalie Roy. In the 34th minute, Hofer had to leave the ice for two minutes. The home team took advantage of this coldly: Ropret made it 1-0 after an ideal pass from Kaspitz - much to the guidance of the Bolzano fans who had traveled with them. The thread was now broken for her protégés.

It was only in the final third that the South Tyroleans found their way back into the game and were able to put Ljubljana under more pressure again. But they remained far too harmless in front of the opposing goal. In the 48th minute, a shot from Bernard grazed the goal post, after which Vause, Broda and Hofer missed the best chances. So in the end it remained 0:1.
