HC Bozen: Three power play goals break the Caps’ neck

The HCB immediately picked up against the Caps where they had left off the previous evening in the unfortunate defeat against Linz: they carried out aggressive forechecking and thus put the opponent under pressure. This paid off in the fifth minute when Joel Broda made it 1-0 - aided by a double power play. The Foxes continued to whirl happily afterwards. But instead of using one of the other numerous power plays, Alex Egger and Co. equalized shortly before the first break when they were outnumbered. Mario Fischer poked the puck over the line.

The HCB also had chance after chance in the second half of the game. But the 2.100 fans in the ice wave still had to be patient until the next goal was scored. It wasn't until the 35th minute that the advanced McMonagle converted the oppressive superiority into countable success. He gave the White-Reds a 2-1 half-time lead in the majority.

At the beginning of the final third, however, the HCB was caught off guard when Rafael Rotter made it 2-2 from a tight angle. From then on, a highly exciting duel developed, in which Bolzano provided the next, decisive highlight. Jerry Pollastrone used a nice cross pass from Egger to make it 3-2 five minutes before the end. After that, the HCB left no stone unturned and wrapped up the well-deserved home win.

On Thursday, the HC Bozen cracks revealed great difficulties in the power play against Linz, but 24 hours later they showed off their best side against their table neighbors from Vienna. Three power play goals led to a 3-2 home win and reclaiming sixth place.
