HC Pustertal: Michael Pohl is the new “strong man”

The HC Pustertal and the elpo HCP Junior are taking an important step together towards the future. Accordingly, the first building block for the summer of 2017 is the commitment of a new “strong man” in terms of sport and organization. The choice for this interface, which ranges from U8 to the AHL team, fell on a man whose curriculum could hardly be more varied and extensive.

No stranger to South Tyrol

Michael Pohl made 655 appearances in the DEL before embarking on a managerial and coaching career. The now 49-year-old Bavarian then worked for his hometown club Starbulls Rosenheim in various positions for years. In 2011 he moved to Vipiteno. Pohl was able to show off all his strengths there. In addition to his responsibility for the sporting orientation of young talent, he acted as a trainer in all categories, worked on the expansion of the Vipiteno sports school system at the local secondary school and created a cooperation with the Starbulls Rosenheim.

Now the original Bavarian, drafted as a player by the New Jersey Devils in 1988, is taking on the challenge in Bruneck and filling a position that first has to be formed and filled in this way: He will work as an official for the U8 up to the fighting team in the AHL will be responsible. “In Mitch Pohl, we have found a professional who will lead all of our teams full-time and coordinate, manage and monitor sports training with schools, young people, parents, carers and coaches,” the Wolves said in a press release.
