HCB: Bernard is out, an Italian-Canadian comes as a replacement

After striker Anton Bernard was hit on the foot by a disc during training and is expected to be out for three weeks, sports director Dieter Knoll and coach Pat Curcio reacted immediately and signed Canadian center forward Stephen Pietrobon. He is 23 years old (according to the EBEL points system he therefore has 0 points), has an Italian passport and has been given a “try-out contract” for a period of one month.

Pietrobon (191 cm x 92 kg) is a strong center forward, a young promising player and for him it is his first experience in Europe. He began his career in the Ontario Junior League with the St. Micheal's Buzzers, with whom he won the championship in 2012/13, and the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. In 2013/14 he continued his career with the university team at Niagara University in the NCAA, where he played for four seasons and was also named alternate captain. There he scored 137 points (47 goals and 20 assists) in 27 games. During the 2016/17 championship, he made his debut with the Elmira Jackals for two games in the ECHL. Now follows his new adventure in the HCB Südtirol Alperia dress.

“The White Reds are still looking for a goalie as a temporary replacement for the injured Matt Climie, who will not return to the ice for another six to seven weeks. More details will be announced soon,” the Foxes said in a press release.
