HCB: A win is mandatory in the latecomer duel

After recent defeats against Klagenfurt and Linz, HC Bozen is facing what could be a decisive weekend. The home games against Villach and Linz on Sunday are like two small finals: points are absolutely necessary in order to breathe new life into the “Füchsen” and restore contact with the penultimate in the table.

The match between Bolzano and Villach is the third meeting this season. In the previous two games, the Carinthians always left the ice as winners with a one-goal lead. However, this did not prove the VSV's change of coach: the new head coach Markus Peintner made his debut on the players' bench on Friday after Greg Holst was fired on Sunday. Villach is currently in ninth place in the table with 30 points, seven more than the Foxes.

“In the last few matches we have shown more effort,” explains captain Alexander Egger, “We absolutely have to score points and in order to do this we have to look for the opponent's goal more and be more determined. Of course the gap in the table has grown, but first and foremost we have to find ourselves again.”
