HCB Südtirol fights its way to its third win of the season in Klagenfurt

After the 4-1 home win against Dornbirn, the people of Bolzano traveled to Klagenfurt on a high note and had their sights set on their second win in a row. The suspended Pope was missing from the Pokel squad, but new signing Alex Foster played for the white-reds for the first time. However, the game didn't start to the South Tyroleans' taste, as the home side started very strongly and clearly showed Egger and Co. their limits in the first third. The Carinthians took a 2-0 lead thanks to Setzinger and Manuel Geier and could have increased their lead even more, but it was only thanks to Jaroslav Hübl that the HCB didn't fall further behind. At the beginning of the second half, the hosts remained the dominant team until the Bolzano team scored the next goal out of nowhere through Broda in the 28th minute. The HCB now sensed their chance and became increasingly stronger, also because the KAC weakened itself with several penalties. Shortly before the second third siren, the Bolzano team managed to equalize 2-2 through McMonagle.

Oberdörfer saves the HCB – McMonagle secures the second point In the last 20 minutes there were chances on both sides, one of which the Carinthians took the lead in the 48th minute when Schumnig, in the majority, shot a shot into the net to make it 3-2. But the HCB didn't give up and scored another equalizer a good three minutes before the end of regular time: Hannes Oberdörfer caught keeper Tuokkola on the wrong foot with his slap shot and brought Bozen back into the game. After 60 minutes the score remained 3-3 and the game went into extra time. When overtime remained goalless, the penalty shootout had to decide between victory and defeat. There the Pokel team had the better end for themselves, because while Koch and Schumnigam, strong Hübl, failed at KAC, Vause and McMonagle kept their nerve and secured the HCB's third win of the season.

After a real show of strength, HCB Südtirol clinched their second win in a row in Klagenfurt. The people of Bolzano caught up twice in the game against the Carinthians and won 4:3 after a penalty shootout. Sean McMonagle converted the decisive penalty.
