7:1 win: HCB warms up for showdown

In the match with the decimated Styrians, who have removed several transfer card players from the payroll in the past few days, HCB coach Kai Suikkanen once again called up Daniel Glira in defense for the suspended Stefano Marchetti. This had little to do at the start of the game, as Graz was very hesitant to get in front of goalie Pekka Tuokkola's goal. The situation was completely different for HC Bozen, who took the lead with their second chance of the game: Daniel Frank passed it off to Mike Halmo in the 4th minute, who put the puck dry next to the far post. The HCB stayed on the trigger and got the next goal opportunity through Austin Smith. This was initially unsuccessful, but in the 32nd minute he did much better when he cleverly converted a pass from Clark to make it 4-0. The Foxes then continued to combine, but no more goals were scored until the second siren.

The bell rang in Tuokkola's box immediately after the restart. Daniel Woger took advantage of the space available in the Bolzano defense and made the Finnish goalkeeper look old. His possible shutout was ruined. However, Bolzano's victory was never in danger - also because Matias Sointu restored the old distance in the 48th minute and at the same time started the lively target shooting in the final phase. A short time later, Smith directed an Angelidis shot into the net to make it 6-1, then Chris DeSousa made it 7-1 on the power play. It was the end of this one-sided game.
