Off to the north: Bozen loses its goalie

The ICE runner-up has to look for a new goalkeeper: Sam Harvey is leaving the Foxes and moving to a top Scandinavian club.

SportNews had already reported about Sam Harvey's farewell last week, now it's official: the Canadian will no longer be between the posts in Bolzano next season. On Friday he signed a significantly higher-paying working paper with the top Finnish club Rauman Lukko.

Last summer, Harvey moved from the third highest division in North America (ECHL) to the ICE Hockey League - without any impressive references - and the 25-year-old made a big impact there. With his ability to react and his lightning-fast reflexes, he led HC Bozen to the final. He played a total of 53 games and in the playoff games he achieved an impressive catch rate of 93,6 percent.

“My goal was always to play in the best leagues.” Sam Harvey

Through his achievements, Harvey quickly found his way onto the notepads of international ice hockey observers. Exactly two weeks to the day after his last appearance at HCB, Rauman Lukko has now struck. “He played very successfully in Bolzano. We also received background information about him, which all says that Harvey is a great guy and a good team player,” says Lukko’s goalie coach Mikael Vuorio.

Anticipation in Finland

Harvey himself is quoted by the club as follows: “I have heard a lot of good things about the country and the organization. My goal has always been to play in the best leagues - and the Liiga is one of the leading championships in Europe." Harvey will be a goalkeeper trio for the Finns together with the young Daniel Lebedeff (23 years old) and Daniel Salonen (17). and help ensure that the 2021 champions are back at the forefront after their quarter-final exit this year.
