As the frontrunners in the derby: HCB regains first place

At the beginning of November, HC Bozen was alone at the top of the rankings for the last time. After that, the Foxes either had to share the place in the sun with Innsbruck or forgo it entirely. Now the White Reds are the sole front runners again: Because the Glen Hanlon team celebrated an unequivocal 3-0 home win against Graz and Innsbruck lost 2-3 in the top game against Salzburg, the Talferstadt team are overtaking. As a result, Bozen will play against HC Pustertal as league leaders in Bruneck on Friday.

The win against Graz was confident. Daniel Frank & Co. didn't find their way into the game at first (third number 1 was very weak), but in the following 40 minutes Bozen never left any doubts about the winner. When Dustin Gazley also had a brilliant phase (a goal and an assist, as well as a few good things), the drop was practically lost after half an hour.

Goalie Andy Bernard was also crucial to the win. Although he spent a relatively quiet evening in goal, he was very strong in the few dangerous Graz offensive actions. The reward was the Kalter goalkeeper's third shutout of the season, the Man of the Match award and lots of applause from the fans. Also worth mentioning is the successful ICE debut of Merano loan player Pascal Brunner, who got a lot of ice time and showed some good approaches, for example in the ice skating area. Short and sweet: the highlights Yay Bolzano's chances in the first third? None. The Foxes never pose a threat, but Andy Bernard has to save a few times on the other side. All in all, a tired first third. With taste... ... the Foxes come out of the locker room. Suddenly only the White and Reds are playing and decide the match within 66 seconds. First Gazley directs a Cole Hults cross into the net (33'), then Matt Frattin is in the right position (34'). Out of the way Curiosity: Ryan Culkin is unintentionally “hazed” by a linesman during a change. The Bolzano crack looks puzzled, the man in black and green raises his hands apologetically. Special Bolzano's special teams work perfectly. Christian Thomas scores in the power play to make it 3-0. That's it. Now the derby against Pustertal is just around the corner for HC Bozen. On Friday from 19.45 p.m. the two South Tyrolean teams will cross bats in the Intercable Arena. Wolves suffered a painful defeat against Asiago on Tuesday.
