Znojmo is not a stumbling block either: Bolzano is now sole second place

After today's win - the tenth from the last twelve games - Bolzano takes sole second place in the table. However, the HCB had to work hard for their success in Znojmo - and could rely on two “goal debutants” there.

HCB coach Clayton Beddoes had to call on three players at the Nevoga Arena in Znojmo: In addition to the long-term injured Dan Catenacci, who has been training on ice again for a few days, defender Ivan Tauferer (ankle injury) and attacker Stefano Giliati (fever) were also out. In goal, Beddoe's substitute Justin Fazio gave confidence - Leland Irving was given a breather.

The white and red coach saw his team get off to a slow start. Znojmo was the more present team in the early stages, even though the hosts rarely appeared dangerous in front of the Bolzano goal. When things got tough, Fazio was always there. On the other hand, with a few exceptions, there was little to see of the HCB offensive in the starting third - as a result, they went into the locker room without a goal.

In the middle section, Bozen was immediately caught cold: after a shot from Sedlak, Svoboda reacted quickest and pushed the rebound over the line to make it 1-0. Shaken up by the deficit, the HCB shifted gears and became stronger from minute to minute, but without creating any top-class scoring opportunities. Towards the end of the second third, the people of Bolzano were rewarded: Angelo Miceli took advantage of the Czechs' carelessness and made it 1-1 with a well-placed shot. Robertson makes the difference In the last 20 minutes, Bozen pushed for the decision. While Znojmo weakened themselves with several penalties, the HCB increased the pressure and came closer and closer to the second goal. This finally fell after a burst of energy from Dennis Robertson: The defensive giant pulled the puck towards the goal and hammered the hard rubber disc into the top corner to make it 2-1. For the Canadian, like Miceli before him, it was the first goal of the season.

As a result, the people of Bolzano cleverly holed up at the back and largely kept the Czechs out of the danger zone. When Znojmo coach Miroslav Frycer took goalkeeper Lassila off the ice for a sixth skater, Robertson again made the decision with an empty-net goal. This meant that the HCB victory was finally wrapped up in dry cloths. HCB Südtirol Alperia continues to go from win to win in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League. On Sunday evening, the White-Reds prevailed 3-1 against Orli Znojmo and celebrated their third success in just five days.
