Bernard remains HCB captain - Insam and Deluca are also extended

Center Anton Bernard, born in 1989, has been a fixture in the Bolzano team for years. The captain is embarking on his eleventh season in the white and red jersey, the tenth in a row and the second with the “C” symbol on his chest.

Since his debut in 2008, Bernard has won two Italian league titles, two EBEL titles, two Italian Super Cups and an Italy Cup with the Foxes, scoring 213 points in 575 games (sixth in the rankings by appearances).

The recently ended season was his best in the EBEL with 25 points between regular season and playoff (4 points in 5 games). From 2010 to 2018 he was one of the mainstays and captain of the Italian national team.

“Goals are clearly defined” “The goals of Bolzano are clearly defined. We will give everything to get into the top 5, which means direct qualification for the playoffs: our dream is of course to bring the cup back to the Talferstadt. Bolzano is my home, I feel comfortable here and I have a lot of good memories, but now I want to create new ones again,” emphasizes Bernard. Insam's haul in the Bozen jersey is impressive with 218 points in 451 games (eighth in the rankings by appearances, twentieth by points). At just under 21 years old, Deluca scored an impressive 18 points (8 goals and 10 assists) between the championship and the Champions Hockey League. The young Vipiteno player became one of the crowd's favorites thanks to his commitment and determination and is one of the most promising South Tyrolean players of the new generation.

These performances also enabled him to be called up to the national team for the World Cup in the Top Division, after he had already been able to regularly put on the Blue Team jersey in the previous two years. “Satisfied with the first year” “I am very satisfied with my first year in Bolzano,” explains Deluca. It is a wonderful feeling to play in the Eiswelle and one of the main reasons for him staying in Bolzano.

“From the beginning I felt the support of the fans, who always encourage us to give that little bit more, especially in the games that are on the line. The coming season will certainly be more difficult for me, because the expectations of me, the club and the audience will of course be greater, I am ready and fully motivated,” emphasizes the striker.

Beddoes, under whom he already trained in Vipiteno, is an excellent coach. “Quite a few players have had him as a coach and claim that he is one of the best from several points of view. In my opinion, this year we will see an offensive team and a game with nice moves. The goal? As always, reaching the playoffs, then we can dream.”

HCB Südtirol Alperia has extended the contracts with three local players for another year. Captain Anton Bernard, assistant captain Marco Insam and Ivan Deluca will also wear the white and red jersey in the 2019/20 season.
