Embarrassment against the bottom team: The HCB gives out gifts

On Tuesday the HCB cracks celebrated a memorable victory in the derby against Pustertal, followed three days later by an embarrassing defeat against bottom team Pioneers Vorarlberg. Against the statistically worst offense in the league, the second-place team conceded five goals and left the ice as a 4-5 loser.

A result that is actually incredible – at least when you look at the shooting statistics. The HCB won this clearly with 40:18, but the underdog won the game. Particularly blatant: After the first 40 minutes, Vorarlberg had scored four goals with just ten shots on goal. During the few attacks, the HCB defense was always ablaze - also because goalie Andy Bernard had a bad day and made several mistakes, including the decisive 4:5 goal.

Vorarlberg is and remains something like the HCB's feared opponent this season. In the second away game in Feldkirch there was the second defeat for the Bolzano team, who had to do without the ill Dustin Gazley on Friday. Despite the defeat, the Foxes are still in second place in the table and have the opportunity to fight back on St. Stephen's Day. Then the home game against Klagenfurt is on the program at 2 p.m.
