HC Pustertal conquers the ice wave

The ice hockey evening in the south of Bolzano had a real derby flavor. On the ice there was high speed, a lot of toughness and chances every minute, in the stands 3500 fans (league season's best!) provided a decibel level to match. In the end, those in yellow and black cheered: HC Pustertal won 3-2.

This was the first time in 3253 days that Bolzano and Pustertal met in the ice wave. The last time this was the case was on January 24, 2013 in Serie A, when the HCB won 5-0. This time the wolves had the upper hand. The decisive factor for the visitors' victory was the stronger collective, which threw everything into the balance until the end and converted a 0:2 deficit into a 3:2 with enormous willpower in the final third.

While the HCP gave themselves the greatest gift in the last game before Christmas, Bolzano experienced the next disgrace after the 2:6 in the most recent meeting in Bruneck. The Bolzano ensemble of individualists was superior at times, but fell apart into individual parts in the decisive moments. An outstanding Justin Fazio in goal and double goalscorer Mike Halmo were not enough to dethrone the derby kings.

Bolzano hits the post twice with Brett Findlay and Mathew Maione, then on the other side Jakob Stukel and Matthias Mantinger have two great chances in the majority. Halmo show In the middle section the HCB really got going and thanks to Mike Halmo they took a 2-0 lead: first the 20-time NHL player energetically poked the puck over the line (29th), then he dusted it off after Dan Catenacci hit the post (32.). Niceties The fans in the stands also don't give a damn: the Bolzano Curva fires against the Puster block and vice versa - that's how Derby works! Auferstehung Beaten the wolves? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that! The HCP fights back impressively: First, captain Armin Hofer scores with a deflected blueliner to make it 1:2 (42nd), then Shane Hanna's shot rolls into the goal under Fazio's pads (53rd) - 2:2! Game turned Now the HCP, inspired by the many Bozen penalties, presses for the opening goal, which comes in the majority: Dante Hannoun cleverly passes to Max Gerlach, who makes the 200 or so Puster fans who traveled with him cheer (55th). HC Pustertal conquers the ice wave

Pustertal continues to be the number 1 ice hockey player in the country! The Wolves won a spectacular, thrilling duel in the ice wave and inflicted the next derby disgrace on the “big” HC Bozen.
