The HCB starts the new season

The reigning champions of the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League (EBEL) will set up camp in Corvara for a week. The completely renewed team will train twice a day.

Coach Kai Suikkanen and his assistant Phillip Barski have nine local players and 13 guest workers at their disposal. HC Bozen Südtirol has already signed some top-class players. But the squad is not yet complete. The people of Bolzano are still looking for a man for the offensive after the two-time Stanley Cup winner Dwight King, who was also offered to the people of Bolzano, decided to go to Graz.

The latest transfer from the “White-Reds”, Daniel Catenacci, arrived in Bolzano on Sunday. The players completed medical tests on Saturday.

The Foxes' three Italian international players will travel to the training camp as they are still with the Blue Team.

The training week in Corvara ends on Sunday with a test match against KHL club Vityas Podolsk. For the HCB it is one of a total of eleven games before it starts again in the championship. On the one hand, the Foxes are taking part in the Dolomites Cup in Neumarkt and the Vinschgau Cup in Laces, and on the other hand, there are four games in the Champions Hockey League. The opponents in the “premier class” are the Finnish capital club IFK Helsinki and the Swedish first division club Skelleftea AIK. The third competitor in the CHL group stage is the Polish champions GKS Tychy.

After the training week in Corvara, the EBEL champion players will probably continue in Neumarkt, where coach Kai Suikkanen will continue to prepare them for the new season in the “Würth Arena”. The first training in the ice wave, where the new video cube is currently being installed, will take place on August 20th or 21st.
