The KAC stops Bolzano's successful run

In the second home game of the season, HCB coach Kai Suikkanen once again had to make do without offensive players Luca Frigo, Andrew Crescenzi and Alex Petan. Tobias Brighenti helped out in attack as a trained defender.

Despite the failures, Bozen got off to a dream start: in the 8th minute, the advanced Tim Campbell scored with a double advantage to make it 1-0. A minute later, defender Angelo Miceli played a cross pass, he just had to push it in - and it was 2-0. However, the early two-goal lead was a fallacy, as the KAC by no means gave in, on the contrary: after Stefan Geier shortened the score in the first third, Andrew Kozek made it 2-2 at the start of the middle period. The former Linzer benefited from goalie Leland Iriving's first hair-raising mistake in the Bolzano jersey. His shot from the boards landed directly on Kozek's blade.

However, things got even worse for the Foxes, who were weak in building up the game, as the Carinthians now pressed vehemently for the opening goal. This was finally achieved by Mitch Wahl, who successfully completed a counterattack halfway through the game. Just two turns of the pointer later, the HCB carelessly gave away the disc in the neutral zone and Manuel Geier was the beneficiary. He ran alone towards Irving and scored in the margin to make it 4-2.

After the last break, Suikkanen's protégés seized the scepter and pulled out all the stops to make the “red jackets” reel again. The Finnish coach completely rebuilt the line once again. But all efforts were in vain because apart from Miceli hitting the post, the Foxes didn't manage to score anything. The first defeat of the season, which had been so successful up to this point, could no longer be averted. The KAC stops Bolzano's successful run

HCB Südtirol Alperia came away empty-handed for the first time this season on Sunday evening. The reigning EBEL champion had to admit defeat to the Austrian record champions Klagenfurt 2:4 in the ice wave.
