Whether Ivan Tauferer will be able to play ice hockey again at some point is more up in the air than ever. After all, there is no end to the suffering of the Rittner defender, who has been under contract with HCB Südtirol Alperia in the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL) for the past 3 years.

On October 2, 2020, the defensive lineman injured his right hand in the HCB's home game against Innsbruck and had to undergo surgery three times. The hand is now feeling fairly well again, but another injury is currently causing Tauferer more headaches.
