The wolves in the breakwater role

HC Pustertal almost couldn't have made a bigger statement. Against second-placed Villacher SV, who had been unbeaten in eight games, the Wolves played a sensational game and won 8-6 - a victory that was well deserved even at this level. The Pusterers quickly put an end to the euphoria in the Villach town hall, because not even the host with the best offensive in the league (2 goals) could achieve such efficiency.

An outstanding first third with fireworks from Puster made the score 4-1. After that, the HCP dropped back a bit and managed results. That worked too. On the one hand, Tomas Sholl was invincible in the middle third, but on the other hand, Villach's offensive power left a lot to be desired.

The same picture emerged in the final third. Pustertal managed the lead in the style of a top team, Villach disappointed in front of their own spectators and didn't have much to counter. Deluca's puck is checked by Tschurnig, Maxa grabs the puck and scores the goal. HC Bozen was also in action on Wednesday, suffering a 0-3 defeat against Salzburg.
