The die has been cast: Bolzano is traveling to the Czech Republic

For the first time in the history of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, HC Bozen, as winners of the intermediate round, were the first to choose their opponent in the first playoff round. HCB manager Markus Meraner announced the decision on Saturday evening in Vienna: He and his club “picked” HC Orli Znojmo, who had just secured third place in the qualifying round and thus last about three quarters of an hour earlier with a 5-3 win against Dornbirn Playoff ticket secured. Impressive HCB record against Znojmo The choice seems obvious when looking at the duels of the season so far: all four duels went to the South Tyroleans - with a total score of 21 goals scored and only 3 goals conceded. The Foxes therefore have to travel at least twice to the town in the southern Czech Republic, 650 kilometers away, on their way to the semi-finals. However, it starts in the local ice wave, where Game 1 of the best-of-seven series will take place next Wednesday. After the HCB, Red Bull Salzburg was allowed to choose its quarter-final opponent and chose Villacher SV. The Vienna Capitals then did not use the qualifying round pot, but instead chose the fifth-placed team from Graz. The reigning champions KAC only had the Black Wings Linz left as opponents.
