One of these two celebrated cracks was defender Tim Daly, who minutes earlier had brought the spectators out of their seats with his goal to make it 3-2 in extra time. Between these Irving highlights, however, HC Bozen only appeared like a truly top team for a short time. Only the first 20 minutes were really tough: The Foxes immediately set a high pace and consequently took the lead in the 12th minute. After a bad pass from Graz, Anton Bernard hit the mark with a typical backhander. Shortly before the first siren, the extremely strong Anthony Bardaro successfully completed a counterattack by skillfully lifting the disc into the top corner. We went into the break 2-0. As a result, a very exciting game developed in which Luca Frigo narrowly missed making it 3-1 with a quick counter-attack at the beginning of the final third. On the other side, Trevor Hamilton did better in the 52nd minute: he took a shot from a tight angle and scored to make it 2-2. Even when conceding this goal, Bozen was outnumbered.

The Graz equalizer brought another big dose of pepper into the game. However, 99ers crack Lukas Kainz didn't know how to deal with his emotions and promoted Domenic Alberga into the gang with a brutal check. While the HCB striker was able to return to the ice after a long break, Kainz had to go to the dressing room early with a game misconduct penalty. However, the Foxes were unable to capitalize on their superiority and so both teams had to go into overtime. HCB Südtirol Alperia defended second place in the EBEL table with an overtime win against the Graz 99ers. After the end of the game, two players were celebrated as match winners by the more than 3.000 spectators.
