A touch of Hollywood in Bolzano: The HCB is back

Prime time, 20.15:4 p.m. Actually the time to make yourself comfortable on the couch with a blockbuster. Or more recently, to follow the HCB. After a break of almost a month and a significant number of corona cases in the team, the Foxes made an impressive comeback on Tuesday and won 0-XNUMX against Bratislava in their first game ever.

In fact, the “away game” in the Eiswelle (the match was actually supposed to take place in Slovakia, but was moved to Bolzano due to the complicated situation) had something of a Hollywood blockbuster. The beginning alone was reminiscent of a scary thriller: dark, spooky, almost frightening. Or when was the last time that not a single fan wearing a red and white scarf frolicked in the ice wave at an HCB match? Even during the Bolzano team's test matches in September, around 200 fans made a pilgrimage to the arena, and on Tuesday the first (and probably not the last) match took place behind closed doors. Apart from a dozen journalists and TV people, there was practically nothing going on in the Bolzano ice hockey temple.

The actors on the ice also initially lived up to their roles as thriller actors pretty well - just to stick with the film comparison. In the first few minutes there was a certain confusion on the slippery terrain that no one could really understand. A lot of toughness, a lot of checks, few recognizable moves - both teams noticed the long break of the last few weeks. Trivellato promptly slips into the lead role A phase that didn't last long, however. After 11 minutes, new signing Alex Trivellato hammered the target from the blue line onto the goal, and Gazley used the rebound without any problems – 1-0. However, that was only the first trick from Trivellato, who made it 2-0 right at the beginning of the middle third with a remarkable shot into the top corner.

Of all people, the Leifer defender paved the way to victory for the Foxes: It was only announced on Sunday that the 27-year-old - who is actually under contract with Krefeld in the DEL - who will strengthen Bolzano until the German top league restarts . Now Trivellato (who, by the way, wore the provisional number 15, he will get his regular number 53 shortly) promptly showed that the follower role does not suit him and that he would rather slip into the main role straight away. A goal and an assist on his debut – no scriptwriter could have written that better. A force on the power play Just 3 minutes after Trivellato's 2-0, Robertson took a shot on a Bolzano power play, the disc went via Miceli to Alberga - and it was 3-0. Because goalie Leland Irving also proved in his first game of the season that he had not forgotten anything in all the weeks without ice hockey and was always there to save the guests in a few attempts, the result was never in danger. Dan Catenacci brought the final point: In the power play, which seems to be increasingly becoming one of the Foxes' specialties, the center was spot on and scored to make it 4-0. The HCB’s comeback – it was a success. And how!

The only downer: Daniel Frank received an unnecessary disciplinary penalty a few seconds before the end because of a dangerous check against the gang.
