A victory for morale: Foxes bring Bulldogs to their knees

The 1871 spectators in the sparsely occupied ice wave saw a balanced game, nice goals and Bulldogs, who for long stretches by no means performed in the style of those at the bottom of the table. But also Foxes, who after initial difficulties ultimately deservedly won 5-2.

Jamie Arniel's and Stefano Giliati's warning shots were followed by a well-deserved lead in the 10th minute: Sebastien Sylvestre brought a puck to the middle that could not be controlled by guest goalkeeper Rasmus Rinne and found its way to the free-standing Kevin Spinozzi, who had no problems inserted. The HCB continued to have the game under control afterwards, but repeatedly allowed themselves to be lured into unnecessary penalties. After the half-time break, the White and Reds came out of the locker room with a lot of momentum, but the goal came on the other side. Two-meter giant Mathias Bau Hansen shot in the slot and hit the top corner with pinpoint accuracy. The joy of the Dornbirn fans who had traveled with them didn't last long, because around two minutes later the eye-catching Daniel Frank gave the Füchse the lead again: The Meraner was left completely alone in front of the goal after a face-off in the Bulldogs' zone and therefore didn't let himself go ask twice.

Daniel Catenacci & Co. now clearly had the scepter in their hands, but were always vulnerable to counterattacks. Like when William Rapuzzi scored 2-2 for the guests, which was only recognized after studying the video because there was an alleged kick movement. But this time too, the Foxes had an answer ready: Stefano Giliati took advantage of a major mistake by the Austrians and, after a remarkable solo effort, gave the Foxes the lead again. Foxes dominate In the final third, both teams slowed down. Technical and individual errors now dominated events, scoring opportunities were rare for both sides. But it felt like the HCB was closer to making it 4-2 than Dornbirn was to equalizing. And that's how it happened: After a pass from Arniel and Catenacci, the otherwise rather inconspicuous Anthony Bardaro hammered the puck unstoppably under the crossbar. The guests never recovered from this shock. A victory for morale: Foxes bring Bulldogs to their knees

HCB Südtirol has returned to winning ways - and in a convincing way. After the defeat in the derby against Innsbruck, the HCB showed at least some of its full potential and sent Dornbirn home without a point.
