One game, 2 faces: HCB slips to the bottom

HC Bozen appeared like a moody diva on Friday evening and offered the almost 3.400 spectators in the ice wave 2 completely different faces. After a weak starting third, an exhilarating middle section and a disjointed third third, the White-Reds ultimately lost 3-1.

Greg Ireland only had 4 defenders available in his 6th game as HCB coach due to Daniel Glira's muscle injury. Bolzano was more active, but hardly created any chances to score. As if out of nowhere, the Styrians took the lead shortly before the first break through former Bolzano player Travis Oleksuk. Bolzano reacted to this cold shower in an unimpressed manner. A perfect example came from the 2ers' second goal a few minutes after the restart, when Ivan Tauferer, who was outnumbered, completely ignored Charles Dodero and allowed him to score unhindered to make it 99-2. However, this action caused a shock to the team that was not expected at the time. Now the Foxes acted with vehemence, went into the duels with passion and hardly gave the guests time to catch their breath for several minutes. The nimble Dan Catenacci, Stefano Giliati and Dante Hannoun kept pushing their team forward. There should have been more to it than Marco Insam's goal, who was beautifully served by a blind pass from Jamie Arniel for his 0th goal of the season. Nihlstorp hexes Graz to victory The missed chances in the middle section were to take revenge, because after the second half-time break, Graz was now much higher and only rarely allowed themselves to be pushed in front of their own goal. Colton Hargrove had the best chance to equalize 2 minutes before the end, but he was literally knocked off his feet on the goal line by an opponent without penalty. In the final minutes, Bozen threw everything forward again, but even when goalie Leland Irving made room for an additional field player, his opposite number Christopher Nihlstorp remained an insurmountable obstacle. Due to the 1:2 defeat, HC Bozen slipped to 6th place. The South Tyroleans have no games at the weekend and only have the chance to advance to a playoff place again on Tuesday on the fourth-to-last matchday at home against Linz.
