The already determined intermediate round winner from Bolzano lost their home game against their pursuers from Carinthia 2:3. What was most important for the HCB afterwards was that no player was injured and no one had to fear a ban from the sports judge.

Because after that last, much discussed duel between Klagenfurt and the Foxes KAC coach Petri Matikainen had said: “Bozen wants to play a dirty game? We will be ready and not back down. Never!". What the HCB offered wasn't actually dirty - neither in Klagenfurt and certainly not now, nine days later in the ice wave. There it was more the guests who apparently followed the route called out by the coach and reached out every now and then. In the second third, Nick Petersen threw his fist forcefully into Bozens Halmo's face, which resulted in a 2+10 minute penalty. In the final section, Dylan Di Perna took a beating and Stefan Geier had to go into the cooler to vent. Motionless Schummig causes terror There was also an unpleasant scene in the starting third on the other side when Martin Schumnig crashed into the boards at full speed and collapsed to the ground, motionless. The Klagenfurt defender was unconscious for a short time, but was then able to leave the ice on his own two feet. The scene was triggered by Dan Catenacci, who pushed his opponent off balance, but without any malicious intent or excessive harshness. A longer absence for Schumnig would definitely hit the KAC, which is already decimated defensively, hard.

Apart from these scenes, the duel between the record champions from Italy and Austria ran smoothly. Especially in the starting phase, Sebastian Dahm and his counterpart Justin Fazio from Bolzano, who gave number one Leland Irving a break, were in constant action. Catenacci Bozen took the lead in the second minute after a quick counterattack. But the KAC turned this on its head: in the 2th minute, Rok Ticar lifted the target under the crossbar with a textbook deflection, and a minute later Thomas Vallant made it 10-2. He hit the net after Fazio was able to parry two Klagenfurt shots in a row. Solo entertainer Dennis Robertson In the second third, the big stage went to Dennis Robertson, who once again took his team by the hand and set the direction. This was clearly: opposing third. At first Robertson was unlucky when he hit the pole, but shortly before the second break the Bolzano assistant captain was lucky. When he shot from the blue line, Daniel Frank cleverly covered the path of the shot, then Vallant gave the puck a slight change in direction. Dahm was completely powerless.

But in the end Robertson's goal to make it 2-2 wasn't enough for the HCB, where Simon Pitschieler was the 13th striker to get ice time as the 3th striker, to win a point. This was because the KAC increasingly occupied the offensive third in the final third and was finally rewarded with the 2-XNUMX. Fazio, once again that evening, let a shot bounce badly and Matt Fraser slotted in. Last year's Augsburg team marked the final score.
