Fists are flying, goals are falling: HCB is already in playoff mode

This game really gets you excited for the playoffs. The HCB won 4-2 against Salzburg at the start of the second round on Sunday evening. Although the fifth season is still a few weeks away, there was already a postseason atmosphere in the ice wave.

Strong moves, outstanding players, heated scenes and, last but not least, a tough fight: The Foxes and the Bulls from Salzburg offered the best entertainment on Sunday evening. At the beginning it didn't look as if the evening would go according to HCB's wishes. Salzburg took the lead with the first shot: Dominique Heinrich won the puck, stormed towards Leland Irving, simply took the shot and celebrated the goal – 1-0 (4th). Miceli is the outstanding player But the guests' joy didn't last long: just three minutes later, a Stefano Giliati shot hit the crossbar and from there directly onto Gleason Fournier's stick, which went into the empty goal to make it 1-1. But things got even better for the HCB: During a power play, Angelo Miceli stood in the right place after a shot from Dennis Robertson and pushed the disc over the line (13th).

With this result the sides were changed. After the break, Nick Plastino and Robertson earned a penalty within a few seconds, which is why Salzburg played with two more men and immediately converted this into something countable. This time it was the former Bolzano player Rick Schofield who was the last piece of the puzzle in a fine combination – 2:2 (28th). Di Perna and Hochkofler let it rip A little later, the waves rose when HCB crack Dylan Di Perna and the Salzburg attacker Peter Hochkofler, who comes from Eppan, got into a fight. The two players could not be separated and had an exemplary brawl - first standing, then lying down. Even when the referees finally separated the two brawlers with great difficulty, tempers did not calm down - on the contrary: Di Perna hit his gloves on the ground, Hochkofler did the same, but a fight was prevented. After a break of several minutes, the referees imposed a game-discipline penalty on Di Perna, while Hochkofler got away with a bench penalty - a decision that was not entirely understandable.

In terms of sport, the HCB immediately had an answer ready: Dustin Gazley showed all his skills when in the majority and took apart the Salzburg defense with a gourmet cross pass, which meant that Dan Catenacci only had to push in (33'). In the final third, Miceli put the lid on things with his second goal (47'). The Kalter native was the outstanding man on the ice and now has 13 goals this season.

So the HCB started the pick round in an exemplary manner: Thanks to the bonus points and the win, the Foxes hold 7 points in the table and are therefore 4 lengths ahead of Klagenfurt. HCB Südtirol Alperia started the pick round with a win on Sunday evening. In the home game against Salzburg there was already a playoff atmosphere in the state capital.
