Fehervar remains the fox's favorite prey

The Hungarians, who had won three of the last four games, underlined their good form and gave the Foxes a strong “wad” right from the start. Tamas Sarpatki fed Donat Szita, who shot past Leland Irving for a 1-0 lead (5th). Fehervar was clearly the team that set the tone in the early stages, and the HCB hardly managed to get any shots. Otherwise, very little happened for a quarter of an hour before the South Tyroleans, who celebrated their last win against Fehervar on December 3rd, found their way into the game better.

The loss of substance was noticeable at HC Bozen, because in addition to the long-term injuries Ivan Tauferer, Sèbastien Sylvestre and Brett Flemming, coach Clayton Beddoes also had to do without the suspended US boy Colton Hargrove and Ivan Deluca (he is suffering from flu). And so there was very little going forward, and the Foxes were rarely compelling even in the power play. You can always rely on Irving. The Foxes goalie was also there in Szekesfehervar as soon as he was needed.

Miceli and Bardaro turn the match around Even at the beginning of the middle third, the Foxes didn't give the impression that the score would change much. But far from it - the Beddoes team turned the match around. After Angelo Miceli equalized (29th/the first goal since the Hargrove Gate against Graz), Anthony Bardaro heaved a rebound into the net (Dan Catenacci had previously failed at Michael Ouzas). After anxious seconds in which the video referee checked the goal because of an ice skate that was in play, the HCB lead was clear for the first time.

Seven minutes had been played in the final third when Dennis Robertson had to go into the cooler. And while the Canadian was missing from the HCB, Fehervar scored through “local hero” Daniel Koger to equalize 2-2 (48th). After that, just as much happened in overtime as in most of the game - so very little that was compelling.

And so it went to the penalty shootout, where Jamie Arniel and Domenic Alberga were successful for the Foxes and thus secured their fourth win in the fourth game over the Hungarians of the current season. The point win in Hungary puts the HCB back in the pick-round zone. Finally another victory for HCB Südtirol Alperia. After two defeats in a row, Domenic Alberga secured their second win in the last four games in the penalty shootout. The losing opponent was always called Fehervar.
