Foxes are back

Compared to the game against the Slovenians, the Foxes presented themselves from a different, much better side. They showed the sorely missed activity and aggressiveness - but without shining. Careless technical errors still crept in, but the Czechs did not punish them. Two early power play goals were enough to secure the second complete success in the second home game against Znojmo – the score was 3-1 in the end.

The fact that we didn't concede a goal was mainly due to one man: his name? Justin Fazio. The 24-year-old was called up in place of the recently insecure Kevin Boyle, exuded an overall calmness and sorted out all the tricky situations. The left catcher was only able to do nothing with the ultimately meaningless goal that made it 1:2.

Insignificant because Brett Findlay, who was in a brilliant mood that evening, took control of the game and decided it. With the win, the Foxes are now in third place in the table. The HC Pustertal, on the other hand, is behind the 2:5 defeat against the Graz 99ers slipped to 9th place.

The highlights Marco Insam is unlucky right at the start when he hits the crossbar. Shortly afterwards, Jordon Southorn, outnumbered, plays a hair-raising pass to the middle, Anton Bernard intercepts it and, standing free in front of Pavel Kontor, scores the 1-0 with a well-placed shot. The fans haven't even savored the goal yet - and the bell rings again: 16 seconds after the 1-0, Brett Findlay completes a nice combination in the power play via Dustin Gazley and Joseph Mizzi. In the second (uneventful) 20 minutes, the Mason troop slows down a gear. Znojmo gains a slight advantage, but Fazio easily parries the shots from Ryan Culkin and Radek Prokes. Dan Catenacci missed the preliminary decision on the other side. The lethargy that had crept in in the middle third almost cost the home team dearly in the third half: first Samuel Fejes' goal was disallowed for offside, a short time later Vojtech beat Nemec Fazio to make it 1-2. Dustin Gazley & Co. don't let this bother them and respond straight away: The outstanding Findlay gets a free shot in the slot and defeats Kantor via his stick glove. After that, Znojmo is no longer able to react. 48 hours after the unsuccessful performance against Olimpija Ljubljana, HCB Südtirol Alperia rehabilitated itself and defeated a weak Orli Znojmo without any major problems.
