Foxes don't shine, but they win

In the prestigious duel, both teams were forced to do without their best goalscorer: Foxes striker Daniel Catenacci, as well as Rick Schofield, had to pass with a slight injury. They were joined by Ivan Tauferer, Anton Bernard and Stefano Giliati and Alexander Rauchwald and Filip Varejcka. The game began with lively Bulls and sleepy Foxes, who could only thank their goalkeeper for not falling behind early on. Shortly before the end of the third, the guests made a major mistake that was almost noticeable: John Hughes gratefully accepted a gift from Marco Insam and Dennis Robertson, but found his match in Irving. The Canadian literally outgrew himself and saved the 0-0 half-time score, which was flattering from Bolzano's point of view.

Even in the second half of the game, the defensive game between the two teams did not blow away the spectators in front of the screens. From the orderly build-up to the game, not much came together on either side. When a scoring opportunity arose, chance usually played a role. However, the guests' sudden 1-0 lead was not preceded by chance, but rather by a wonderful individual action: Angelo Miceli picked up the puck in the neutral zone, then dizzyed the Austrian defense and beat Lamoreux to the far post (28th). However, the joy was short-lived: When the referees announced a penalty, the HCB holed up in their own zone, but forgot about the screamer who was completely free in the slot. The 21-year-old had no trouble scoring the deserved 1-1. The game now picked up speed significantly, both teams had their moments of pressure, their chances - and also an excellent goalkeeper who defused the opposing attacks. Bardaro makes everything clear Overall, the HCB now had more of the game; the South Tyroleans only missed the last bit of efficiency. That changed suddenly at the beginning of the final third when Ivan Deluca outwitted Lamoreux from a half-chance to make it 2-1 (43'). Spurred on by the new goal, Salzburg, led by the strong Hughes, pushed for the equalizer. Baltram achieved this in the 53rd minute, with the Austrian only having to place a Hughes sugar pass into the empty goal. As a result, a lively back and forth developed, with both teams having the opportunity to win the game in regular time. That didn't work, so it went into overtime, where Anthony Bardaro put the puck in the corner and decided the game. HCB Südtirol Alperia won against EC Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday evening despite many absences and thus extended their lead in the ICE Hockey League.
