HCB-Crack announces end of career

Markus Nordlund hung up his skates at the age of 34. “I have decided to retire from professional ice hockey,” writes the Finn on Instagram. “I have to pay a lot of respect to my wife and my daughter. Thank you. I would also like to thank my wife's family and of course my family, who have always supported me. Above all, thanks to my father, who made it possible for me to have a career as a professional ice hockey player.”

Nordlund completed a total of nine seasons in the top Finnish league. For two more seasons he was under contract with Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss NLA. Before he moved to HC Bozen in the summer of 2018, he played for one season in the Krefeld Pinguine jersey in the DEL. Nordlund had some initial problems at Bozen, but in the end he was the best defender of the 2018/19 season.

Despite winning a Finnish championship, the 34-year-old wrote in his Instagram post: "My greatest achievements have been lifelong friendships, memories and all the people I have met in my career."
