In the 2017/18 season, Anton Bernard was able to lift the Karl Nedwed Trophy for the second time after winning the EBEL championship with HCB Südtirol.

“I would have imagined a different exit”

On March 4th of this year a great career came to an end in Bolzano. Anton Bernard laced up his skates for the last time in the second game of the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL) pre-playoffs and then hung them up. The game ended for the captain of HCB Südtirol Alperia with a 0-7 debacle against KAC.

Bernard put on the Bolzano jersey a total of 738 times and collected 270 scorer points. Bernard also appeared on the ice at six World Cups and played a total of 123 international matches for Italy. In the following interview, the 33-year-old center forward looks back on his career, talks about the beginnings, the best moment, the best opponent and his greatest teacher.
