Big win in Bolzano: Foxes demolish Znojmo

HC Bozen, which had to do without Dan Catenacci (injured), Angelo Miceli (in advanced training), Ivan Tauferer (with rides in the Continental Cup) and Justin Fazio (still missing his Italian passport), didn't get off to a dream start in front of almost 2500 spectators. Instead, the Czechs were the more active team, but Radim Matus missed the lead when he narrowly missed from the slot (7th). The game turned around when HCB took the lead, which defender Brett Flemming achieved after just under 12 minutes. Suddenly Bolzano was wide awake and Znjomo was anything but up to speed. First, Marco Insam was denied by Teemu Lassila (16'), but then Sèbastien Sylvestre made it 2-0 after an irresistible solo effort (18'). After Luca Frigo scored HCB's third goal just half a minute later, the starting third clearly went to the home team. Sylvestre scores twice in 44 seconds The same way the first 20 minutes ended, things continued after the break. The HCB worked themselves into a frenzy and began to really dismantle Znojmo. Ivan Deluca (30th), Sylvestre (he scored twice within a minute/35th) and Anton Bernard (36th) increased the result - and didn't even take advantage of all of Bolzano's opportunities. Znojmo, on the other hand, was frustrated: Miroslav Frycer had been cursing at the boards like a pig in the first third, but the Czech coach now let it get the better of him.

In the final third, the HCB showed some mercy. Although Anthony Bardaro (46th) and Deluca (55th) scored twice for the Foxes, they subsequently focused on defending the shutout victory, which they ultimately achieved. Because Bolzano has no games on Sunday, the game continues in Salzburg in a week.
