4-1 win: The white and red diva strikes back

After the clear 0:4 in Vienna, HC Bozen was like a substitute in their first home game. The cracks in white and red stood up to the aggressive guests from the start and didn't shy away from a duel. Although the Capitals had significantly more play in the first third, the Foxes had the better chances. Chris DeSousa and Austin Smith were unlucky in their graduations.

Tuokkola shines as an assist provider This was also the case halfway through the game, when Smith went off alone again, but this time he found his match in the Caps' goalie. Only when the game became rough again and the referees had to intervene again and again did the HCB engine start to stutter. Some of them must have rubbed their eyes in disbelief because of the clear result as the players disappeared into the catacombs.

When the game restarted, Lamoureux had to make way for David Kickert in the Vienna box, who was promptly checked by Matias Sointu. On the other side, ex-Bolzano player Taylor Vause directed a shot onto the post a short time later. It was the start of a spectacular final third, to which Smith added another highlight with a masterpiece. But with his backhander from the rotation he failed because of Kickert. He was powerless ten minutes before the end when Matt Tomassoni released a bomb on the blue line that grazed Anton Bernard and finally hit the goal. It was the sixth goal of the season for the Kalter striker. However, the South Tyroleans' four-goal lead only lasted three revolutions of the pointer when Ryan McKiernen hit the puck into the corner on the power play to make it 4-1. After that, Bolzano didn't let anything go wrong and wrapped up its first semi-final victory.

The semi-final series now moves back to the Austrian capital with the score at 1:1. Game three is already scheduled there on Thursday.
