Crashing derby victory: Bolzano takes the Wolves' Den

Everything was set up for a true sports festival: 3104 spectators filled the Bruneck ice stadium to capacity, choreographies in both fan curves and a racy game on the polished ice provided entertainment. In the end, only 300 of the fans in attendance, namely those from Bolzano, cheered. The HCB won the South Tyrolean ICE duel 5:3.

The victory for the capital was hard work, but at the same time deserved. Not because the people of Bolzano dominated the game - the puck mostly passed through the Bruneck ranks - but because their quality on the ice had the upper hand. Mike Dalhuisen, Dustin Gazley, Brad McClure and Mike Halmo once again stood out from the collective. The Foxes were extremely hardened at the front, but at the back they threw themselves passionately into every shot and narrowed down the spaces with their compact defensive blocks.

While the HCB consolidated its lead in the table, the Wolves are still stuck at the bottom of the rankings. Despite the sixth bankruptcy, Pustertal showed a clear upward trend. At times it was Bruneck's best performance so far this season. However, the lack of exploitation of opportunities meant that Bozen could not really get into trouble again in the final third.
