Last game in the Rienzstadion: HCP is defeated by VSV

At 3:5, the Wolves were more effective offensively than last. However, the defense was less solid, aided by failures and a few dropouts, among other things. Fans were able to soak up the atmosphere of the cult site one last time. Since 1971, the bitterly cold (because it is partly open) but atmospheric standing room arena has been the home of the Wolves and many ice hockey enthusiasts beyond the Pustertal. Fittingly, numerous supporters came to the stadium with old jerseys and fan items on the occasion of the “Fan Vintage Night”. The team received vocal support after “Patza’s” last pre-game show. With the all-round reinforced VSV, a real touchstone was present. During the summer transfer window, the Carinthians mainly relied on their internal league competitors and, with the exception of second goalkeeper Alexander Schmidt ( Sportnews reported on his injury ) in full. Ivan Althuber, Brad Morrison, Davide Conci, Yuri Cristellon, Ivan Deluca and Shane Hanna were missing from HC Pustertal. Game thrives on emotions The wolves started focused. After Dante Hannoun won the puck, Bernard was initially the winner against Stukel, but Zach Buddish netted the rebound. A little later, the waves rose briefly after an unpunished check against Daniel Glira. Kevin Moderer, who is well known in Bolzano, was particularly active. In the following HCP power play, VSV goalkeeper Andreas Bernard particularly shone. After the Wolves carelessly lost a target in their own zone, the Carinthians equalized through Karlsson. Now the Villach team got a jolt and controlled the neutral zone, so it didn't take long until VSV was there with an unstoppable shot from the blue line. Stukel then tested Bernard when Joel Broda did better before the end of the third and scored after a cross pass in front of Sholl. Wolves only catch themselves halfway through the game At the beginning of the second third it was Broda again who caught the unfortunate Sholl half-covered. Villach now let the puck and the Black and Yellows run under the direction of John Hughes, who could never be stopped. Reece Willcox appeared out of nowhere from half distance. The rebellion only lasted a short time: after a generous rebound from Sholl, Karlsson only had to push in. Bardaro then asked Zauner to dance after a foul. In the following power play, Harju refined a beautiful cross pass from Hannoun. Now Pustertal recovered something and was back in the game. In the final section there were individual chances on both sides. Pustertal showed itself to be strong in character and fighting spirit. Thanks to some strong saves from Tomas Sholl, who was suddenly extremely strong, the score remained 3:5. Last game in the Rienzstadion: HCP is defeated by VSV

The penultimate test match of HC Pustertal was a very special one, after all it was the last meeting in the venerable Rienzstadion, which will make way for the brand new Intercable Arena for the first home game of the ICE Hockey League season.
