With unexpected qualities: Foxes defeat Vienna

Four power play goals from the Viennese sent the HCB to ruin in their last guest game in Kagran. On Friday, the guests from South Tyrol again received (too) many penalties, but this time the second-worst penalty killing in the league withstood the pressure and destroyed seven (!) power play chances. That was the key to the narrow but well-deserved 2-1 win after extra time, which saw the Foxes jump to second place in the table.

In the Steffl Arena, Anton Bernard & Co. inevitably presented themselves in a new look. With Luca Frigo, Simon Pitschieler and especially Brett Findlay, who was out for a short time, three strikers were missing. Coach Greg Ireland turned the ranks around properly - and with success: The Foxes once again showed the bite they had recently shown, cleverly keeping the Capitals out of the dangerous zone and repeatedly setting dangerous pinpricks in the offensive. They were also able to rely on an excellent Kevin Boyle in goal, who sometimes excelled in the many outnumbered situations.

Thanks to their success, the Foxes continued their recent upward trend and won for the third time in a row. In less than 48 hours, the Ireland team wants to achieve their next success in Fehervar - and thus underline their position in the top 6.

The highlights The Foxes started like the fire department - and scored after around three minutes when Marco Insam deflected a Trivellato shot in front of the goal. Vienna pushed for the equalizer, which finally came in the 32nd minute. Luke Moncada shoots at Boyle from behind the goal and sees the puck slowly roll over the line. In the final period, the guests went on the power play twice, but were unable to capitalize on it. Even Vienna doesn't make Boyle sweat. Eight days of break didn't take the wind out of the sails of HCB Südtirol Alperia. The White-Reds presented their best side at the Vienna Capitals on Friday and scored two valuable points - also thanks to unexpected qualities.
