On the way up: Foxes win in Hungary

HC Bozen may continue to offer anything but exhilarating ice hockey, but it has now chased away the last ghosts of crisis and taken another step towards the playoff places with a 4-3 win in Hungary. In the hard-fought away win, Bozen's legionnaires in attack, Dan Catenacci and Anthony Bardaro, were particularly convincing. The absence of the suspended top scorer Jamie Arniel was hardly noticeable.

An early goal is followed by a goal parade The game in Székesfehérvár started in exactly the same way as almost all of the Foxes' previous games this season: with an early goal conceded. What was completely new, however, was the reaction, which was still vehement in the first third. Andrew Yogan's opening goal after just 19 seconds equalized Bardaro in the 12th minute. He gave the starting signal for a real firework of goals from the guests. Just seconds later, Catenacci, who was playing great today, made it 2-1, before Marco Insam extended the lead even further two minutes later in a double power play.

With the two-goal lead behind them, Bozen's entire offensive potential came to the fore. The White-Reds combined safely and, above all, purposefully into the opposing third time and time again. In the 28th minute, Sebastien Sylvestre made it 4-1 after a great backhander assist from Bardaro. But now, of all times, when the course was already set for victory, the HCB made life difficult for itself: Giliati carelessly misused the disc and was only able to slow down the onrushing Yogan with a foul. The former HCB striker in the service of the Hungarians safely converted the penalty to make it 2:4. Hargrove punches his opponent down Immediately before the second break, Bozen's Colton Hargrove felled Jonathan Harty in a wild boxing match, but little changed in the game. Fehervar stayed on the trigger after the break and made things really exciting again from the 54th minute onwards when Scott Timmins reduced the score to 3:4. In the final phase, the Foxes - especially their goalie Leland Irving - withstood the rolling attacks of the Eastern Europeans and achieved their second win in a row over time. HCB Südtirol Alperia also scored points for the fourth game in a row and ended a weekend with six points for the first time this season. On Sunday evening, the 2018 champion defeated Fehervar on foreign ice.
